Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Gives to Volunteers in Medicine Jacksonville Clinic

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is awarding much needed equipment to Volunteers in Medicine at 3:30 p.m. on Tues., Dec. 21, 2010 at the Firehouse Subs in San Marco. Volunteers in Medicine benefits with the donation of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) worth $2,000.
The Volunteers in Medicine Jacksonville Clinic is a volunteer-run medical clinic improving the health of the Greater Jacksonville community by providing free primary care medical services to the working uninsured. The donated life-saving AED will now be available if a patient in their clinic goes into cardiac arrest.

Firehouse Subs is renowned for hearty, oversized portions and piping hot subs. The founders’ 200-year firefighting heritage inspired the formation of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, which provides funding and support to public safety entities.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be able to support the men and women who have dedicated their lives to help our communities. The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation gives us the opportunity to show our appreciation in the best way possible, by giving back,” Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation gives us the opportunity to show our appreciation in the best way possible, by giving back,” said Robin Peters, executive director of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

Each restaurant recycles leftover, five-gallon pickle buckets and sells them to customers for $2. Donation canisters on register counters explain the non-profit’s mission and collect spare change.

The presentation takes place at the Firehouse Subs located at 1949 San Marco Blvd.

Firehouse Subs®, founded in Jacksonville, Fla., by former firefighting brothers Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen, is a (number)-unit fast-casual restaurant chain. Firehouse Subs® offers oversized portions of premium hand-sliced meats, steamed to make the flavors burst, then piled high with fresh produce atop a toasted sub roll. Firehouse Subs was also named “National Chain” winner of the National Restaurant Association’s (NRA) Restaurant Neighbor Award for their overall dedication to community service.
In 2005, Firehouse Subs created the non-profit, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. Its mission is dedicated to improving the life saving capabilities of emergency service entities in communities served by Firehouse Subs by providing funding, resources and support to public safety entities. Through the non-profit 501 (c) (3), Firehouse Subs has given more than $2 million to hometown heroes, including fire, police and EMT organizations.
