JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- You may have heard the old cliche: "Idle hands are the devil's playground." If that's true, then Jacksonville artist Kelly Hennessey had nothing to worry about during the last year.

"I remember in the beginning thinking 'Why am I doing this'," she said, laughing.

She has been toiling in her dining room/studio since August 2010, when she got a sudden urge. "I wanted to do something that I wasn't comfortable with," she said, looking for a challenge.

So she decided she would finish one painting every day for a year; each painting done on a small tile. "It takes hours, some of these."

Coming up with a new idea each day wasn't the hard part, she said. "The ideas come from everywhere. It's people you meet, conversations you have, just taking your dog for a walk."

She said the real challenge was finding the time - something that kept her husband up at night, too.

"I'll be painting past midnight, 1 or 2 in the morning and he would say, 'Aren't you coming to bed.'"

But now that she's finished her final tile (the last coat of paint went on Friday), she said the question she gets most from friends is 'what's next?'"

"I'm not sure," she said. "I really don't know."
