Pumpkins on the Point Opens Oct., 1st

Picking the perfect pumpkin is no “one size fits all” event! That’s why you need truckloads (2 to be exact) to choose from. Starting Saturday, October 1st the front lawn of Jacksonville’s Southside United Methodist Church (SUMC), AKA “The Point”’ will be covered with pumpkins for PUMPKINS ON THE POINT! We invite the community to join in the fun of this annual tradition.

Pumpkins on the Point officially opens on Saturday, October 1st and continues through October 31st. It is opened weekdays from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 am to 8:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. In addition to every shape and size of pumpkin imaginable, you’ll also find hay bales, decorative gourds, gift cards, cookbooks and more! Every year since 1997, PUMPKINS ON THE POINT is a sure sign that fall has arrived. “The whole church comes together to support this event,” says Amy Franks, Youth Director for SUMC. “It takes hundreds of volunteer hours and raises thousands of dollars to support our youth outreach and community projects. There are so many positives for everyone. We are so blessed to be able to share this with the community!” PUMPKINS ON THE POINT also plays host to over 1,400 Pre-school and Elementary students during the month. Some enjoy stories, fall activities and gets to pick and take home their very own pumpkin. Some come for creative writing exercises or for science research. All proceeds support The Point Youth ministries including, Habijax, Family Promise, United Methodist Children's Home, Mission2Guatemala, and so much more! For more information about Pumpkins on the Point go to www.point.southsidemethodist.org/pumpkin-patch or call (904) 396-2676.
