All Invited to Free Concert By DA's Wind Symphony

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Everyone is invited to a free send-off concert by the Douglas Anderson Wind Symphony.  The students have been invited to play at the world's largest instrumental music conference--a very prestigious invitation--and they want to celebrate.

The concert is Friday, December 9, at UNF's concert hall.  Admission is free. The location is the Lazzara Performance Hall at UNF.

The conference is called the "65th Annual Midwest Clinic: An International Band and Orchestra Conference," held at McCormick Place West (Chicago, Illinois) in December.

The Wind Symphony has earned a solid reputation in Florida.

In 2008, the group performed at the University of South Carolina Band Clinic, and the MENC National Biennial In-Service Conference in Milwaukee.

Recently, they also appeared at a FMEA conference in Tampa, and the "Music for All" National Concert Band Festival, in Indianapolis.

The Midwest Clinic-the world's largest instrumental music conference-presents over forty concerts including orchestras, concert bands, jazz bands, and chamber music ensembles for nearly 16,000 participants from all fifty states and more than thirty countries.

Groups selected to perform at the conference undergo a rigorous application process from a pool of more than 150 applicants.
