JACKSONVILLE, Fla - Mo Trafeh won the Gate River Run for the second straight year with a time of 42 minutes and 58 seconds. Jen Rhines won the women's division in 49:30.

Despite the six-minute head start for the women elite runners, the 31-year-old Trafeh caught Rhines shortly after the crest of the Hart Bridge.

Trafeh recently won the U.S. Half Marathon championship in Houston as did Rhines.

Rhines, 36,  also won the Gate River Run in 1998. She was the runnerup last year.

More than 17,000 participated this year in the 15K and the 5K races.

Fifteen seconds of silence was observed before the start of the race in honor of Sally Meyerhoff, an elite women's runner who was killed riding her bicycle this week in Arizona.

Both winners today are from California, Trafeh from Duarte and Rhines from Mammoth Lake.
