Community Mourns Loss of Community Member Jay Jabour
A native of Mississippi, Jay Jabour moved to Jacksonville in 1986 and opened Karl's Clothiers just a year later. He quickly became a community leader known for economic development and community preservation in his beloved San Marco. Jabour was elected to Jacksonville City Council with 62% of the vote.
Community Appointments and Recognition for His Devotion to Jacksonville:
- Appointed to the first Southwest Citizens Planning Advisory Council by Mayor Ed Austin. Served as Chairman.
- Appointed to the first Southwest Municipal Code Enforcement Board by Mayor John Delaney. Served as Chairman.
- Appointed to a Sheriffs Advisory Council by Sheriff Nat Glover. Served as Chairman.
- Appointed to Mayor's Transition Sub Committee for the Children's Commission by Mayor John Peyton.
