JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The nation's population is up nearly 10 percent, and Jacksonville is the country's 11th most populated city. 

Today, the U.S. Census Bureau released more details about who Americans are and where they live.

Florida is the fourth most populated state in the 2010 Census, trailing New York by about half a million residents. Jacksonville has 821,784 citizens in the city limits, and just over 59 percent are listed as white, almost 31 percent are African American, and slightly under 8 percent are Hispanic.

Slightly over half of the city is female, and the largest age segment is those 35-49, comprising more than one in five residents.

Significantly more people own homes than rent, and there are 43,167 vacant houses in the city.
