Sea Monsters Splashes into Bryan-Gooding Planetarium at MOSH!

National Geographic’s giant-screen film Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure premieres at the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium June 11 in conjunction with the opening of the Museum of Science & History’s summer exhibit, Savage Ancient Seas: Dinosaurs of the Deep.  The film brings to life the extraordinary marine reptiles of the dinosaur age. From the giraffe-necked Styxosaurus and 20-foot “bulldog” fish Xiphactinus to the T-Rex of the ocean — the 40-foot super-predator Tylosaurus — these wondrous beasts defy imagination.

Free Admission to MOSH this Weekend for Active & Retired Military

Active and retired military personnel presenting a valid military i.d. will receive free admission at MOSH in observation of Memorial Day. Visitors will be able to explore museum exhibits, including the Universe of Science, an interactive physical science exhibit that invites visitors to pull levers, launch rockets and more! Universe of Science will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 30 to make room Savage Ancient Seas: Dinosaurs of the Deep, which opens June 11.

I just saw that local band 'Fit For Rivals' started a Kickstarter page to help fund the production for their next album. While I am new to their music, I can say they sound good and that it's awesome they took the web to keep it alive.

'SUNBEARS!' as you may know did and overreached their pledged goal of $8,000 with $9,555. I would love this idea to be applied to other local bands or projects that maybe aren't even well known. Embrace what resources you can!

Local Artist C. Ford Riley recognized by FWC

Meeting today in Havana, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) recognized artist C. Ford Riley of Jacksonville for his incredible artwork.

Riley is a Jacksonville native and has spent much of his life in the backwoods and wild areas of Florida, making notes about and sketches of the state’s unique environment and wildlife for his paintings. His studio is a three-room house built on stilts, on the banks of the St. Johns River.

In tribute to the great glee clubs across the country, the tour (in conjunction with the VH1 Save The Music Foundation) will offer regional glee clubs the chance to compete for the ‘opening act’ performance slot.
