Some users trying to access get a message that the home page is temporarily unavailable.

Spokeswoman Tara Burke says customers experiencing slowness or who can't get through should keep trying. She says the access problems are a result of the bank managing traffic volume during peak use. She declined to say whether volume has surged in recent days.

Problems began on Friday, a day after the bank said it would start charging a $5 monthly fee for customers using debit cards. Burke insists there's no connection. Burke says there's been no hacking and no customer information was compromised.

Bank of America, based in Charlotte, N.C., is the biggest U.S. bank by deposits.

Florida Legislators Want to Reform Personal Injury Protection Insurance

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- If you drive a car in Florida you are required to have personal injury protection, PIP, this mandatory insurance has been required since 1972.

But now there's a move to change it. The state's insurance commissioner says the no fault insurance is riddled with fraud and bogus claims.

"It's like whack a mole. You close it down one place and it pops up somewhere else. They're very proficient at finding those weaknesses."

Kevin McCarthy said the system is costing Floridians hundreds of millions of dollars on their car insurance premiums. The Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater agrees and says it's time to fix it or flush it.

"You can't keep throwing consumers to the wolves"

Atwater said the frequency of crashes is down in Florida, but PIP payments are up 70 percent in just the last two years. Change is necessary.

"It is a very bad thing for consumers"

Parent Angry Over Durham School Services Cancelling Route

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Some parents are scrambling to find school bus transportation for their children who attend magnet schools.

Laurie Dankert said the bus company she paid has canceled its services for her daughter's route.

"I'm really mad!" Dankert exclaimed.  "You really don't want to hear me describe how mad I am."

The company, Durham School Services, just called Dankert today to tell her because of low ridership they have cancelled her $900 annual contract, which starts Monday.

"I even asked last Thursday when we were there, or Friday, 'Is that going to be a problem?' 'No, no, no, you don't have to worry about ridership,'" Dankert said.

Her daughter Megan earned her way into Julia Landon, the college preparatory school in San Marco.  The school is about 30 minutes from the Dankert's home on the Westside.
